Graphic Africa
Made in Italy
Handmade impression stamps in wooden blocks allow the repetition of patterns on fabrics. From this artisanal technique emerge contrasting patterns, often two-tone and geometric. The presence of the motif infuses a large part of African urban life, as well as artistic production: artists such as the photographer Seydou Keita or the more recent works Leonce Raphaël Agbodjelou, have produced the traditional portrait photo by having a person pose in printed on a graphic background. This mix of patterns with unique writing due to its graphic features is the subject of the theme. Printed dungarees worn over a t-shirt, djellabah dresses or smock dresses in fashioned cotton voile herald summer!
